FAQ
What is the focus of Great Lakes LC?
At Great Lakes we are focused on helping build skills, raising IQ and fielding a highly competitive team while preparing kids to play at the next level.
Where you do you play?
While the Cherries program is focused on playing out East, Great Lakes focuses on playing the best events throughout the Midwest.
Where do you practice?
Current we run summer practices at Heritage Park in Hartland, MI.
What does a practice look like?
College level instruction and drills. The 3 hour practices are dynamic, fast moving and are presented in more of a clinic style to allow for us to maximize time and increase the amount of reps each kid gets.
Do you have winter training?
Yes, we have weekly off season training on both the East and West side of the state.
Who are your coaches?
Great Lakes coaching staff is one of the best in the state of Michigan and is comprised of several college head coaches. This not only allows kids a great opportunity to grow but also gives them a taste of what they can expect should they want to continue playing lacrosse in college.
Do you help recruit?
Yes, the same recruiting support that is offered through Juiced Cherries is also offered to all Great Lakes players. We will work to help identify good fits and opportunities for each player through a detailed questionnaires, academic review, on field performance, and support them through the process.
Do you play in the fall?
Yes, we will play two event each fall.
How many kids are on a team?
While we have no exact number we will typically look to field teams of around 20 kids. The summers get hot and kids get worn down quicker than they do in spring or fall.
Are we expected to make all the events?
Yes, if you commit to the team you are expected to make all the events and scheduled practices. The only exception is off season which is optional but highly encouraged. If you are not going to make an event we ask that you communicate that to your coach as soon as you know so they can plan around it.
Is this Juiced Cherries B team?
Absolutely not. Where Cherries is more focused on playing at the highest level out east, Great Lakes is focused on doing the same in the Midwest.
Do you offer box lacrosse?
Yes we do. Box gives kids an excellent opportunity to not only play year around but to improve especially in terms of hand speed and ball movement. More information will be made available to those in the program after summer teams have been set.
What grades can you play Great Lakes?
As of right now, we are fielding teams for high school and 8th grade levels.
